DEXTER BANG SINISTER

The latest block of Charlottenborg’s Research Programme operates under the auspices of New York designer Dexter Sinister, working with the American writer Angie Keefer and the Danish art historian Lars Bang Larsen, employing the compound name ‘Dexter Bang Sinister’.

The centerpiece of the programme is a ‘sensorium’ – a psychedelic installation that the collaborators have created in one of Charlottenborg’s galleries.

The sensorium that Dexter Sinister and their collaborators have created takes
the form of a freestanding room, a ‘stimulation box’ offering an immersive experience of
experimental artworks and artifacts. The contents includes a number of works by Dexter Sinister,
including carpet tiles, silkscreen wallpaper and a looping 16mm film; along with examples of
Danish psychedelic experiments collected by Larsen.

HAMMERSHØI and EUROPE

At the National Gallery of Denmark SMK

Don't miss this!!

4. February – 20. May 2012

The exhibition presents the Danish artist Vilhelm Hammershøi (1864-1916) and his art as a phenomenon in itself. In addition to this the exhibition takes a new – and investigative – approach to Hammershøi by having his art enter into a dialogue with fellow European artists of his day.

The exhibition 'Women Artists of the Avant-garde' presents these eight artists and their wide-ranging artistic works as a unified totality for the first time. The aim is to present the similarities, differences and relationships in the life and work of these artists and to widen the perspective on the historical Avant-garde in the Europe of the 1920s and 1930, to shed light on new facets and to show how this group of artists made crucial contributions to the aesthetic innovations that took place in those years in cities like Berlin, Zürich and Paris in particular.
