ROKOKO-MANIA

“The Dance of the Deaf and Dumb Eye” by Nikoline Liv Andersen, 2011. Photo: Nicky de Silva.Rococo-mania is an unconventional museum experience that explores rococo as a phenomenon of the past as well as the present.

DESIGNMUSEUM DANMARK
3 May – 23 September

With this exhibition, you are invited to reflect on commonalities between the past and the present. The past is illustrated with select 18th-century items from the museum’s permanent collection, while the present is represented by works created by four contemporary artists: the world-famous British-Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare MBE and three Danish fashion designers, Nikoline Liv Andersen, Laura Baruël and Anne Damgaard.

Beautifying the Beast

It’s all about progress and how to ease the headaches along the way.

Fie NorskerCopenhagen’s fairly new metro system is expanding and as you can imagine it’ll take years to complete. Simultaniously everything else in the city is going through a make-over or much needed repairs, making the entire city look like one big messy building site.

So what to do???

"Foreningen Hovedstadens Forskønnelse" is a society of clever people that came up with the idea of decorating the metro sites by having six Danish artists/painters create an artwork for each of the areas, and that way turn a painful course for the citizens of Copenhagen into positive events.Very clever indeed!

Artist Fie Norsker  On 9 May 2012 at 1pm the Mayor of Copenhagen, Frank Jensen will be presenting the first work og art by artist Fie Norsker at the King’s Square - Kongens Nytorv.

Join us in celebrating the progress of Copenhagen- the begininning of a new era- with great public transportation, less cars and a modern well-functioning city in all its ancient beauty.
